- Let’s start with a plan- Rushing to implement a social media tactic is the surest way to failure, unless you know where it fits in your overall marketing strategy plan. The basics of who is your customer, who are you competing against, where are your price points, what makes you unique, and a variety of other important questions need to be understood and weaved into a logical plan. There is no point in going to the solution before you know what the question really is for your company.
- Digital is great…but it isn’t everything- Everyone talks about the importance of digital marketing. I certainly agree! But, understanding your objective for marketing dictates the tools and some of those will be traditional items such as direct mail, trade shows, or even print. Once you know whether your objective is to generate leads, make online sales, build a brand or some other, then you can make the decision on the correct digital or traditional maketing tool.
- It’s the message stupid- The message is the core of your marketing. Do you know your message or do you have too many messages that ultimately confuse your customer? If you don’t have a strong consistent messsage, then you will waste alot of time and money bombarding prospects and customers with words that won’t ultimtely lead to a sale. Start with a strong consistent message and make sure it encapsulates how you want to be seen in the market.
